Sadie was found in the mountains of Kentucky with a bullet hole between her eyes and one in her back put there after she had a litter of puppies and left to die. Strangers found her and took her to a veterinarian.
Through a series of events, Sadie was transported to a no-kill shelter in Wisconsin where I found her while I was donating blankets. As I was walking out, I saw Sadie and asked what her story was.
I was curious because even though her head was hanging down, I thought that she was beautiful, but I had no intentions of adopting another animal because I had three at home.
After I was told by the volunteer what Sadie’s story was, I asked if I could take her to a doctor, and I was told that I could, as long as I paid for it, so off we went.
The first doctor said that we should get Sadie a cart because the x-rays confirmed the bullets and shrapnel. The second doctor told me that because Sadie was urinary and fecally incontinent plus the fact that she couldn’t walk, that I should do the kind thing. But I saw something in Sadie’s shining eyes that told me differently.
I took her home and put her in the garage for the night because sweet Sadie was a mess.
The next day, I took her to the Animal Doctor near my house and the vet said that we should give Sadie a chance and so we did.
Fast forward to today:
Sadie receives every therapy known to man including acupuncture, aqua puncture, cranial sacral, chiropractic, laser, e-stim, Power Plate, and far infared therapy just to name a few. Sadie uses her “hot wheels” as a tool to teach her legs to walk again and is no longer fecally or urinary incontinent.
Despite all that Sadie has gone through, she is happy, lively and animated. She enjoys each and every day of her new life and has even taught her mom how to howl!
